SUMMARY:The Calorie and Beyond: The regulation of health and longevity by dietary protein and specific dietary amino acids
DESCRIPTION:Dean Henri R. Ford’s Distinguished Lecture Series \nThe Calorie and Beyond: The Regulation of Health and Longevity by Dietary Protein and Specific Dietary Amino Acids \nDudley Lamming\, Ph.D. · November 3\, 2026 \n\n \n\n\nDate \nTuesday\, November 3\, 2026 \n\n\nTime \n5:00 – 6:00 p.m.\, reception to follow \n\n\nLocation \nGordon Center\, First Floor Auditorium \n\n\n \nRSVP for the Lecture\n \n\nAbout the Lecture\nExplore how dietary amino acid composition\, beyond caloric intake\, influences metabolic health\, healthy aging\, and longevity. Examine how restricting specific amino acids\, including isoleucine and valine\, may improve insulin sensitivity\, reduce frailty\, and extend lifespan\, while uncovering how targeted dietary changes can produce lasting metabolic benefits and promote healthier aging. \n\n \n\nSpeaker\n \n\nDudley Lamming\, Ph.D.\nProfessor\, Division of Endocrinology\, Diabetes and Metabolism \nVice Chair for Biomedical Research\, Department of Medicine \nUniversity of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health \nDr. Lamming’s research explores the relationships between nutrition\, aging\, and longevity\, focusing on how dietary modifications and nutrient-responsive signaling pathways can promote healthier aging. By uncovering the biological mechanisms that influence aging\, his work aims to advance innovative strategies to extend health span and delay or prevent age-related diseases\, including diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. \n\n\n\n \n\nVenue\n\nGordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education \nFirst Floor Auditorium\n1120 NW 14th St\nMiami\, FL 33136 \nGet Directions
