SUMMARY:From Mutation to Innovation: Tackling BTK Inhibitor Resistance | Justin Taylor\, MD
DESCRIPTION:Justin Taylor\, MD\nPap Corps Champions for Cancer Research Endowed Professor in Leukemia\nDivision of Hematology\, Department of Medicine/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center \nJustin Taylor\, M.D. is an Associate Professor in the Division of Hematology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital\, a fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center\, and postdoctoral training with Omar Abdel-Wahab\, M.D. \nDr. Taylor’s research focuses on recurrent genetic mutations in hematologic malignancies and the development of targeted therapies. His laboratory employs molecular biology\, single-cell genomics\, and animal models to uncover mechanisms of disease and identify novel therapeutic strategies. His work aims to translate laboratory discoveries into clinical applications to improve outcomes for patients with blood cancers. \nHe has received multiple research grants and has been recognized with Young Investigator Awards from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)\, the Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation\, and the Evans MDS Foundation. In addition to his research\, Dr. Taylor provides clinical care for patients with hematologic malignancies\, integrating cutting-edge scientific insights into personalized treatment plans. \nJOIN HERE!\nDr. Taylor’s objectives: \nDescribe the mechanisms underlying resistance to covalent and non-covalent BTK inhibitors in B-cell malignancies\, including the clinical significance of both kinase-active and kinase-dead BTK mutations. \nEvaluate emerging therapeutic strategies designed to overcome BTK inhibitor resistance\, including targeted protein degradation and other next-generation approaches currently in preclinical and clinical development. \nIntegrate genomic profiling and resistance mutation analysis into the management of patients with CLL and other B-cell malignancies to inform therapeutic decision-making and clinical trial selection. \nFaculty Disclosure\nDr. Taylor has indicated he has the following relevant financial relationships with ineligible companies: \nFinancial Relationship        Commercial Interest/organization \nConsulting Fee                      AstraZeneca\, CARIS Life Sciences \nPlanning Committee Disclosure\nDr. Lekakis has indicated that he has no relevant financial relationships with commercial interests. \nTarget Audience\nFaculty\, Primary Care Physicians\, APRNs\, PharmD \nAccreditation\nThe University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nCredit Designation\nThe University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Successful completion of this CME activity\, which includes participation in the evaluation component\, enables the participant to earn up to 1.0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

SUMMARY:Beyond the Professoriate Series: Going Beyond Subject Matter: How to Identify Skills Employers Want
DESCRIPTION:Beyond the Professoriate Series \nGoing Beyond Subject Matter: How to Identify Skills Employers Want \nOctober 21\, 2026 · 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. \n\n \n\n\nFormat \nVirtual (Zoom Webinar) \n\n\nAudience \nDoctoral students\, Ph.D.s\, postdocs \n\n\nCost \nFree \n\n\n \nRegister Now\n \n\nAbout This Webinar\nGraduate education and postdoctoral training give Ph.D.s the opportunity to develop deep expertise in a specific subject area. But for most Ph.D.s who pursue nonacademic careers\, what connects their graduate training to their professional life is not their subject matter. It is the skills\, values\, and interests they developed along the way. \nWhen starting a nonacademic job search\, many doctoral students and postdocs ask: “What can I do with my Ph.D.?” But that is often not the most useful place to start. A more productive question is: “What skills have I developed\, and where can I apply them?” \nIn this webinar\, you will learn how to reflect on your graduate training\, identify the transferable skills you’ve developed\, and communicate your value clearly to nonacademic employers\, both in your job documents and in interviews. \n\n \n\nWho Should Attend?\nThis webinar is designed for doctoral students\, Ph.D.s\, and postdocs from all academic disciplines who are wondering: \n\n\nHow do I identify the skills I’ve developed in my graduate training?\nWhat do nonacademic employers look for in a candidate\, and how does my background align?\nHow do I communicate my value to employers when my expertise is highly specialized?\n\n\n\n \n\n📹 The webinar will be held via Zoom and will be recorded. Advance registration is required. \n\n \n\nReady to learn more? \nRegister for the Webinar \n\n \n\nQuestions?\n\nAna Fiallos \nPhone: 305-243-5660 \nEmail: afiallos@miami.edu \n\n\n \n\nEvent Category \nOffice of Graduate Studies
