Dr. Roy-Chaudbury is a Professor of Medicine and the Co-Director of the University of North Carolina Kidney Center. Dr. Roy-Chaudbury’s research focuses on understanding pathobiology of dialysis access stenosis and developing new therapies for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). With over 75 clinical trials under his belt, Dr. Roy-Chaudbury and his team have led national research efforts and contributed to groundbreaking studies funded by major institutions such as the NIH and VA.
Dr. Roy-Chaudbury has held significant leadership roles in nephrology organizations such as the American Society of Nephrology and the International Society of Nephrology. He was also the founding Co-Chair of the Kidney Health Initiative, a public-private partnership aimed at advancing kidney-related treatments. Currently, Dr. Roy-Chaudbury serves as President of the American Society of Nephrology and is a member of the FDA’s Cardiorenal Drugs Advisory Committee. He is also the founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Inovasc LLC, which is developing smart magnesium based biodegradable stents for preventing AVF maturation failure.
