Meet Dr. Ian Tolfree from Emerald Development Managers in a virtual zoom info session!

They are looking for one or more technology lovers to support their due diligence and overall technology/company research on the science and technical side as a Summer PhD Intern. They’re looking for somebody who can and will think outside the box. As a small team, they all do a lot of everything.

Emerald Development Managers is an early-stage VC firm investing in elite scientific and engineering teams that are solving real problems. Deals are sourced from decades-long relationships with academic research institutions, operating managers, incubators, and like-minded VCs.

2025 PhD Summer Internship – Emerald Development Managers (Venture Capital)

There are two core areas where we could use help. Technical / Scientific Diligence involves asking/answering questions like:

• The quality of the science?
• Will it work? How unique is it?
• Is it a solution in search of a problem, or a real solution to an important problem? Scope of the problem being solved?
• The risk, time and capital requirements associated with development?
• What other solutions are out there trying to solve the same problem, and how does it compare?
• As you get more iterations, eventually understanding business models and how they apply

The info session will be held via Zoom webinar on February 19th from 3:00-3:30 pm.
