Dr. Samantha Gonzalez completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Miami and went on to attend Ponce School of Medicine where she attained her medical degree. She rejoined the University of Miami to complete a combined Med-Peds residency at UMiami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she later served as the Ambulatory Chief Resident for the Internal Medicine residency program. With an interest in both primary care and medical education, she joined Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale where she served as Associate Program Director for their University of Miami Internal Medicine Residency Program while practicing primary care and working closely with the LGBTQ+ community in her Wilton Manors practice.
She rejoined the University in 2022 as a Primary Care Physician at UHealth Fisher Island, and currently serves as an Ambulatory Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency program. In addition to her roles in primary care and medical education, she is a Senior Advisor for Child Health for the Global Institute and is a volunteer medical director for the student-run DOCS Rapid Access Wellness clinic, which focuses on providing free gender-affirming hormonal care in the greater Miami-Dade community.
Dr. Trent Wang is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine within the Division of Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. Since joining Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, his clinical focus has been treating patients with hematologic cancers who require allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and other cellular therapies. Dr. Wang’s research focuses on complications of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including conducting interventional, behavioral and retrospective studies of graft-versus-host disease, infectious transplant complications, and transplant survivorship. Dr. Wang also studies the outcomes of immune effector cell therapies such as CAR-T cells for various oncologic indications.
