T Cell Therapy: A Gap Assessment | Cassian Yee, M.D

Dr. Yee is a medical oncologist, immunologist and Kenneth Muller endowed professor in the Division of Cancer Medicine, Dept of Immunology, and Director of Solid Tumor Cell Therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He received his medical training in Canada, residency at Stanford and fellowship at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. He is an endowed Professor, and elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigators. His pioneering efforts in T cell therapy have led to many novel approaches and seminal first-in-human studies in cellular therapy over the last 25 years, including first-in-human use of antigen-specific CD4 T cells, antigen-specific CD8 T cell clones, and tetramer-guided cell sorting strategies for a modality known as Endogenous T Cell (ETC) therapy. He holds more than 18 inventions and patents in the field of cellular therapy and antigen discovery and is scientific co-founder of Immatics US, an AI startup and, founder of Mongoose Bio, a TCR-T cell therapy company. Several assets developed in Yee Lab are focused on solid tumor malignancies more commonly found in the global population such as head and neck cancer, gastric and esophageal cancer, lung cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, liver cancer, breast and cervical cancer, leveraging one of the largest non-profit tumor immunopeptidomes established from mass spectrometry-defined datasets in his lab. Dr. Yee’s latest project is a NASA-funded initiative to take T cells to the International Space Station.
Dr. Jabbour’s objectives:
- Identify the 3 major modalities in T cell therapy
- Analyze challenges to T cell therapy for solid tumors
- Appreciate the importance of target antigen immunogenicity
