Big Data and Augmented Intelligence 

Guest Speaker: Nicholas Tsinoremas, PhD

The University of Miami Institute Frost for Data Science and Computing, IDSC, aims to catalyze data-intensive research and enhance data science understanding among our students and the public by leveraging state-of-the-art resources and enabling novel interdisciplinary collaborations across UM and industry partners. IDSC is a university wide institute which focuses on problem-solving approaches to societal problems where computing, augmented intelligence, and team approaches play significant and integral roles.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe at least three key resources and programs offered by the University of Miami Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC).
• Explain how the intersection of big data, augmented intelligence, and healthcare could be used in a real-world biomedical research scenario.
• Evaluate how modern computing and big data could transform biomedical research, citing at least two specific examples of current initiatives or projects.
