I grew up in Florida and graduated in the top 5% of my International Baccalaureate class in Pinellas County, FL. I received an academic scholarship to attend the University of Miami, where I completed by undergraduate degree and majored in Psychobiology with minors in chemistry and religion. During my my 4 years in undergrad I was involved in a variety of academic, service, governmental and cultural organizations with a variety of leadership positions ranging from secretary on the Committee on Student Organizations to president of Mortar Board Honor Society and co-captain of Hurricane Raas dance team. I graduated as part of the Honors Program. I attended the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami where I was director of my student academic society and participated in the Department of Community Service. I was selected for an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. I returned to UM/Jackson Miami to complete my fellowship in Gastroenterology during which I trained in General GI, Neurogastroenterology/motility, IBD, hepatology. I joined as faculty at the University of Miami after my fellowship.
