The microbiome is deeply intertwined with human health. So, why has it been difficult to translate microbiome research into clinical care?

Dr. Kelly’s research focuses on the microbiome as a sentinel of human physiology, constantly sensing, processing and responding to signals from internal and external perturbations. She and her team seek to understand the processes and interactions that drive microbiome connections to human physiology, and then develop novel approaches to improve human health.
