Dr. Rose Puthumana completed her undergraduate at the University of Missouri Kansas City and earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. During medical school she served in various leadership roles in the Sojourner Student Run Free Clinic, eventually becoming Clinic Director. She matched into the Urban Health Track at the University of Miami and participated in service initiatives at the IDEA Exchange and Miami Street Medicine throughout residency. She continues to serve as a preceptor for Miami Street Medicine. She also participated in the Pulmonary and Critical Care pathway and continues to be involved in the American Thoracic Society participating in conference presentations. She now serves as an apprentice within the Clinical Problems committee.
Dr. Puthumana is currently serving as chief medical resident at the Bruce W Carter VA after completing her Internal Medicine Residency.
Mariana Velasquez, MD, serves as Chief Medical Resident in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. A graduate of Universidad CES, one of Colombia’s most prestigious universities, Dr. Velasquez relocated to the United States in 2021 to complete her residency at Jackson Memorial/University of Miami. She has been recognized with the R. Nascimento Service Award for her exceptional dedication to the internal medicine program. She is also an active community health educator and fluent in both Spanish and English, allowing her to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Dr. Velasquez’s research focuses on metabolic and endocrine disorders, and she is eager to further specialize in endocrinology to enhance patient care and contribute to advancements in the field.
