Roy E. Weiss, M.D., Ph.D., is the Kathleen & Stanley Glaser Distinguished Chair in Medicine, Rabbi Morris I. Esformes Endowed Chair in Medicine and Endocrinology and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is also the Chief Medical Officer of Ambulatory Services for UHealth.
Board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, Dr. Weiss is an expert in diseases of the thyroid. He has an active clinical practice and is sought out as one of the leading experts of genetic thyroid disease. His research focuses on the mechanisms of thyroid hormone action at the molecular, physiological, and psychological levels for which he holds several patents and over 180 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
Dr. Weiss currently serves as Principal Investigator (PI) on a grant from the National Institute of Health Disparities with the aim of identifying modifiable factors in health disparities for patients with cardiovascular disease, obesity, and diabetes.
